Brown Darter Dragonfly

Another image from RSPB Lakenheath.

This is- I believe – a female Brown Darter, and she was busily engaged ( apparently ) in laying her eggs in the mud around the edges of a shallow pond.

As always, ID is ( almost ) everything, so if I’ve got it wrong, please let me know.

Lakenheath Butterflies

Last weekend a group of us from our local camera club went to the RSPB site at Lakenheath in Suffolk. Not too many birds – but a lot of butterflies.

Here’s a selection ….

Butterfly ID is always an issue for me – so I’ve done the best I can. If I’ve got any ( or all ) wrong, I’m sure you’ll let me know.

All taken on the Olympus EM-1 with either a macro lens or ( mostly ) with a telephoto lens around the 250-300mm mark.

January Favourite

With the New Year just around the corner I thought it would be worthwhile looking back and picking out my favourites from the 4,300+ images I’ve taken over the year ( more, actually – they are the ones I’ve kept! ).
So here is my January Favourite – a sika deer stag at RSPB Arne near Poole in Dorset.
He was definitely looking at me as I was looking at him!
