A yacht under sail on the River Thurne at Potter Heigham on the Norfolk Broads.

  1. Nice picture. And it reminds me that I managed to navigate a fairly large hire cruiser through that bridge at my first attempt.

    • Apparently you can now pick up a Pilot to assist with such manoeuvres! But not as much fun, I suspect. Thanks for your interest.

  2. Well well, a gaff-rigged sloop with a fractional rig (he ventured, pretty-much exhausting his vocabulary of sailing rigs in one short sentence). You don’t see many of those these days. Two mysteries:
    1. Why is her foresail set so counterproductively?
    2. How ever did she get under that bridge??

    • If you say so! But not my normal sort of gaff!!
To help with your two mysteries – maybe – the ‘vessel’ had just completed a 180 degree turn in front of the bridge and was heading back towards me. Does that make any sense?
