Old Oaks at Mundon, Essex

The ancient remains of an oak forest close to Mundon village in Essex. Some call it a ‘petrified’ forest, but the trees are not fossilised – simply dead. They died from salt water poisoning – maybe from localised flooding when the nearby creeks over flowed – or maybe because of seepage of salt through the soil.
The jury is still out.
Taken on my Panasonic LumicFZ200 in RAW, loaded into Lightroom 4 and then edited in Viveza 2 to allow some localised editing within the image.
