Dragonfly

This is one half of a dragonfly pair that flew ‘coupled’ into our conservatory – their minds clearly on things other than basic navigation!
Maybe this is why we shouldn’t use the phone, or do ‘other activities’, while we are driving.
In their panic they separated and one escaped through an open window, but this one seemed to be unable to find the way out.
In the end he (?) settled long enough for me to grab this shot – and then catch and release him/her into the garden.
Note the very shallow depth of field, and the fact that only the central part of the dragonfly’s body is in focus – but where it is in focus, some great detail captured by the the D800.
Taken with the Sigma 180mm macro lens, f/5.6 1/2000sec ISO 200 – almost the way the camera was set up when I grabbed it!
