Taken at Walton on the Naze in Essex, this pair had something else on their minds as I crept up on them with a 70mm macro lens on my D800. It was a blustery day but luckily for me they had alighted on some grasses resting on the sheltered side of a low wall. But still I racked up the ISO to 1000 to give me a shutter speed of 1/160 at f/18.

  1. Hi, Caroline. How are you both? Keeping well, I hope?

What news from you part of the world? Apart from the sad lack of dragonflies and butterflies?

But I was lucky enough to catch these two – and saw a few more in Epping Forest today!!

  2. We’re both hobbling on much the same – we’ve had a stonker of a Summer – very dry. They ran out of water on Skye & it was a problem for them!

But now it’s a bit Autumnal – hail showers earlier, but gorgeous cloud formations & light.
